About you
Confidentiality, sensitivity, and trust are the cornerstones of the UK Adoption Tracing Service. The researcher works at a pace that suits each individual, recognising that every adoption journey is highly personal and can be emotional. Over the last 24 years, the service has helped several hundred adoptees to locate records, search for information, and in many cases, reunite with birth families. Some clients, however, seek only to know more about their origins without pursuing direct contact—sometimes, sometimes just knowing where you have come from, can be the piece of the jigsaw you are looking for!
Assessment
The UK Adoption Tracing Service stands out as the only company offering a thorough assessment of an individual's details before embarking on a full search. This initial assessment involves significant search work, enabling the service to determine whether a full-scale search is viable. As a result, unnecessary expenditure of time and money is avoided, and a remarkable 97% success rate is achieved through this careful process.
Specialised Tools and Services
Utilising the most advanced search tools available, the UK Adoption Tracing Service has access to resources not available to the general public. This expertise ensures a comprehensive service from the initial enquiry to the conclusion of the search.
If the assessment is successful, we will then offer a full search
Expertise and Experience
The personal experience of the researcher as an adoptee ensures clients are supported by someone who truly understands their feelings and concerns. Along with 24 years experience in adoption tracing it is a truely unique service.
Completion
Upon completion of a full search, clients receive a comprehensive report detailing all activities undertaken throughout the process. This report includes the current name and address of the birth mother or relative, or, if relevant, information concerning the individual's final resting place and the relative who registered the death. All findings are accompanied by supporting documentation that confirms the positive identification of the relative. Additionally, clients are provided with information regarding any other relatives identified during the course of the search
Timescales
The timescale varies depending on the information provided. Typically, the assessment takes 1–2 weeks, while the full search, including the acquisition of relevant documents, requires 2–3 weeks.
Additionally, we offer guidance on obtaining adoption records and intermediary services
