The researcher works at a pace that suits each individual, recognising that every adoption journey is highly personal and can be emotional. Over the last 24 years, the service has helped several hundred adoptees to locate records, search for information, and in many cases, reunite with birth families. Some clients, however, seek only to know more about their origins without pursuing direct contact—sometimes, sometimes just knowing where you have come from, can be the piece of the jigsaw you are looking for!

Completion
Upon completion of a full search, clients receive a comprehensive report detailing all activities undertaken throughout the process. This report includes the current name and address of the birth mother or relative, or, if relevant, information concerning the individual's final resting place and the relative who registered the death. All findings are accompanied by supporting documentation that confirms the positive identification of the relative. Additionally, clients are provided with information regarding any other relatives identified during the course of the search
Timescales
The timescale varies depending on the information provided. Typically, the assessment takes 1–2 weeks, while the full search, including the acquisition of relevant documents, requires 2–3 weeks.
