The Adoption Contact Register

It is strongly recommended that both adoptees and birth relatives add their details to the National Adoption Contact Register based at The Registrar General, Smedley Hydro, Birkdale, Southport, Liverpool Tel: 0151 471 4252 before beginning a search. NORCAP also hold a Contact Register, free to its members - £50 to join.

This is to ensure that your time and money is not wasted on a search when a relative could already be waiting to make contact.

However, please be advised that as the national register has not been widely publicised relatives who have not left details may not have done so because they may be unaware of the facility.
